Do You Love Cheese?
Volunteer at the American Cheese Society national conference in Pittsburgh this July 20 – 28.

Be a behind the scenes part of Forged in Cheese, the 35th Annual ACS Conference & Competition. The American Cheese Society (ACS) is the leading organization supporting and promoting American artisan cheese and cheesemakers. For the first time in ACS’s 35-year history, its premier industry event is coming to Pittsburgh this summer!

Much like Slow Food, ACS is a non-profit organization that relies on the support of hundreds of volunteers to lend a hand and make its events successful.

  • Volunteers are needed to assist with everything from helping to receive and sort thousands of cheeses at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center (Friday, July 20) to preparing cheeses for the mother of all cheese fests, the Festival of Cheese (Saturday, July 28). Volunteer shifts are available from July 20 through July 28, 2018.
  • All volunteers receive an official t-shirt, a complimentary ticket to the Festival of Cheese on the evening of Saturday, July 28 (additional tickets for friends and family can be purchased here), and have meals provided during their shift(s).
  • Get details and plan your participation: http://www.cheesesociety.org/conference/volunteer.

Sign up to volunteer with ACS!

Upcoming:

  • Develop Your Honey-Tasting Palate (Date/Location: TBA) with master beekeeper Christina Neumann,
winner of a second national Good Food award for her hyper-local Pittsburgh riverbanks honey.

About Slow Food
Food is a common language and universal right. Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes, how our food choices affect the rest of the world.

Slow Food USA envisions a world in which all people can eat food that is good for them, good for the people who grow it and good for the planet. In essence, food that is good, clean and fair. You don’t have to be a member of Slow Food to attend Slow Food Pittsburgh events; but by becoming a member, you’ll influence goals from better school lunches to a level playing field for local growers.
