Buy a Meal, Support Restaurant Workers through Allegheny Eats!

Let’s eat together.
Sustainable Pittsburgh, CRAFT at Chatham University, and partners from other local food system organizations announce the launch of Allegheny Eats.

When you buy a meal kit through Allegheny Eats from one of our participating restaurants, you are helping to purchase meals that support local food industry workers who have been impacted by COVID-19.

In 2020, employment in the restaurant industry in Pennsylvania dropped by 21% due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our goal at Allegheny Eats is to make as many meals as possible to meet the needs of our restaurant industry friends and neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity. Each industry worker meal is supplemented by grant funding, direct donations, and the purchases of meal kits.

Each meal kit on Allegheny Eats contains at least 30% locally sourced produce and products. This helps our farmers and producers know how much to plant for the upcoming growing season and reduces the amount of spoilage during harvest time because that food is accounted for — at Allegheny Eats!

Your meal kit purchases and charitable donations provide regular business for our restaurants — helping them to stay open until they can safely resume regular service.
