11th Annual Farm to Table Pittsburgh Conference March 24-25, 2017

11th annual Farm to Table Pittsburgh local food conference FOCUSES ON CULTURAL ROOTS OF FOOD AND COMMUNITY

March 24 & 25, 2017 – David L. Lawrence Convention Center

Pittsburgh, PA, February 16, 2017– The 11th Annual Farm to Table Conference returns on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh. This year, the Conference continues to focus on the origins on our food while also exploring community and culture with the theme: Growing Roots for Healthy Communities.  The Conference will feature exhibitors, speakers, local food and spirits tastings.

Events within the Conference include the popular conference kick-off “Friday Night Food Tasting,” a variety of educational opportunities, cooking demonstrations, food sampling, nutrition information, and health and wellness discussions.

Farm to Table teaches attendees about where their food originates, the advantages of eating local (for health and economic reasons), and provides attendees the opportunity to meet businesses owners, farmers, purveyors, food producers,  and organizations who can provide them with healthy food and lifestyle options.

The two-day event serves as a valuable resource both to those who are looking to learn more about eating locally and those who are already well versed in Farm to Table culture.

This year’s theme will focus on growing roots for healthy communities. This year, the Conference and its expert participants are focused on food as “the great connector.” Cultural origins, diverse preparations, and local ingredients come together in Conference programming in the form of seasonal cooking demonstrations, gardening classes, a variety of expert speakers- from chefs to nutritionists, mind-body-spirit wellness seminars, and more.

“This year’s conference is all about celebrating the diversity of our local ingredients and multi-cultural cooking methods that make eating local fun, educational, enriching- and most importantly, a way to communicate. Food is the great connector, connecting us to our history, to the earth, and to each other. Food is also central to building community, revitalizing neighborhoods, and bridging gaps that may separate us.”

says Erin Hart, Director, Health Benefit Services, American HealthCare Group/ Founder, Farm to Table Pittsburgh.

A new addition this year is the Saturday night Farm to Flask Mixology event on Saturday, March 25th. Attendees are invited to close out the 11th Annual Farm to Table Conference by enjoying the tastes of wine, beers, and half a dozen spirits that originate in the Western Pennsylvania region.
