A few hours remain for aspiring speakers to throw hats into the ring for the upcoming 2nd Annual Pittsburgh Regional Food System Summit, presented by the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council. Individuals ready to share insights, present research, and introduce initiatives on topics relevant to the pursuit of equitable food systems have until 11:59 pm tonight, Friday, February 21st to submit.
The Pittsburgh Food Policy Council works towards a just food system for all in the Greater Pittsburgh area, through listening, educating, and advocacy, with a focus on policies and programs that shift power, expand access to resources, and strengthen the Greater Pittsburgh Food System. They introduced the Summit last year to join leaders, educators, policy makers; bringing together individuals and institutions; within an inclusive environment welcoming all interested in food equity at any level of experience or participation.
For those interested in presenting, the Greater Pittsburgh Food Action Plan lists recommendations on pages 16 & 17. In addition to alignment with one of these, prospective presenters will need to complete a form, select presentation format, provide a session summary, submit resume, and demonstrate support of food systems work.
The summit takes place on Friday, May 16th, and chosen speakers will be notified by Friday, February 28th. The clock is ticking, but you’ve got this- go get it here!
