FARM TO TABLE… AND TO VASE!

While you’ve likely come to appreciate the benefits of locally grown fruits and vegetables, you might not think to look to local farmers when it comes to flowers. With prom season upon us, Mother’s Day coming soon, and a riot of blooms right here right now, it’s a great time to explore nearby options for the vase as well as the plate, and Pittsburgh’s Eleven Mile Farms is aglow with tulips, narcissus, anemones, and ranunculus. Check out their website for bouquets, arrangements, dried flowers, CSAs, wreaths, corsages, boutonnieres, and dried flowers- for events, special occasions, or just a bit of brightness.

Not only are they blooming with flowers, but they’re ready to help you grow your knowledge. A Mother’s Day to remember blossoms a gift into an experience, with a fresh flower workshop using the farm’s bounty to craft an arrangement to take home. Grab a slot for mom and another for you and have a great time together- two sessions are available on Sunday, May 4th, morning from 11 am- 12:30 pm and afternoon from 2- 3:30 pm.  Other upcoming workshops are “Let’s Get Growing”, with installments on ranunculus and dahlias, “Healing Power of Flowers”, and “The Art of Dyeing”- register for any or all here!
