EMPTY BOWLS, FULL HEARTS THIS SUNDAY

When you think of soup, you likely think of something warm, hearty, and homey, comfort food delivering sustenance with simplicity. That’s the feeling behind EMPTY BOWLS, an fundraising event benefiting Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank and Just Harvest in their efforts to provide food security within our region. Coming this Sunday, April 6th, patrons can enjoy an informal meal of soup, bread, and treats while supporting these two organizations in the fight against hunger.

Three seating times are available at Rodef Shalom Congregation’s ballroom, and there’s additionally a takeout option. Food has been donated by an all-star lineup of some of Pittsburgh’s best restaurants, including favorites like Butterjoint, Alihan, Mediterra, and Bar Marco. The hand-crafted bowls used for serving are yours to take home, and if you’d like more, already in progress is the silent auction featuring over 3 dozen ceramic works created by multiple artists.

If you opt for the last seating, you have the opportunity to Meet the Makers!, an intro to participating chefs and potters. Whatever seating you choose, you can view Lindsey Peck Scherloum’s “Let’s Eat”, an exhibition investigating food insecurity.

If seating remains available, tickets can be purchased at the door for $35. Advance tickets, however, are strongly recommended, and can be secured here.
