We had a blast sharing a table with Grow Pittsburgh at Barrel & Flow Fest this past weekend, and can’t wait for more fun with them this week at the Garden Get Down! This annual fundraiser, of which we’re proud to be a sponsor, helps make it possible for this organization to continue their stellar work centered on food-growing initiatives and programs across the region. They’re a triple threat as they teach people how to grow food; grow and distribute food to the community; and build and support gardens throughout Allegheny County.
This year as part of our sponsorship we had the opportunity to connect their event caterer, Jen Saffron and Sprezzatura, with local farmers and purveyors to provide some of the necessary ingredients for the evening’s refreshments.
The chicken for this event originates from Footprints Farms. This Southwestern PA livestock producer focuses on eggs, poultry, pork, and grass fed beef with a commitment to supplying pastured, healthy non-GMO meats that are not only delicious but nutrient rich. They sell directly to the public through their website, with free pickup available at multiple locations as well as home delivery for a small surcharge.
The vegetable group is brought to the table by Harvest Valley Farms. This family business has been around for 4 generations, fully focused on vegetable production since 1982. Their philosophy centers on building the soil structure, allowing minimal chemical and synthetic intervention. They additionally have a market and bakery, greenhouse plants, and host a fall festival at their Valencia, PA facility.
We’ll also to savor the flavor of Hello Hummus. You can find these friends at Farmers Markets across the city almost every day of the week, with not only an impeccable selection of garbanzo dips ranging from Classic to Dill Pickle to Hot N’ Spicy, but also other Mediterranean dips and salads, always filled with freshness you can taste.
We can’t wait to see what all of this adds up to, and we can’t wait to see you as well, this Tuesday, August 13, at Grist House Craft Brewery in Millvale. Get your tickets, get ready, and get down with us!
