We’re looking forward to making the most out of our growing spaces this season, and we’re so fortunate to have a cornucopia of resources easily accessible through incredible local organizations.
One of the most fertile is Grow Pittsburgh, consistently providing gardening assistance, education, and much more. This week we’ll fill our containers and plots with bounty from their seedling sale, presented in four locations, with at least one open each day of the week.
The largest selection is available at their own Garden Dreams Urban Farm & Nursery, located at 806 Holland Avenue in Wilkinsburg. Through June 21st, visit Fridays from noon to 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am- 4 pm. Through the end of this month, their Braddock Farms location welcomes you Saturdays from 9 am- 1 pm as well.
East End Food Co-op is open from 8 am to 8 pm 7 days a week for you to stock up on not only seedlings but a great variety of locally created food and home items as well- all are welcome to shop anytime, but consider a membership and reap all the benefits of belonging to this market mainstay.
Make a day of it at the Frick Pittsburgh, and grab some seedlings after checking out their collections, savoring a bite and a sip in their gorgeous café, and perusing their exhibitions- we strongly recommend the magnificent “Harper’s Pictorial History of the Civil War (Annotated)”, by the trailblazing Kara Walker, but make haste, as it closes May 25th.
Subscribe to Grow Pittsburgh’s newsletter for ongoing updates on everything they’re cultivating, including an option to receive details on seedling availability!
