ART AND PLANTAINS AT THE MATTRESS FACTORY!

We are constantly grateful for events combining elements that showcase what our community has to offer.

On Thursday, August 22nd, that means the Mattress Factory’s Artist Dinner Party. This new, ongoing series celebrates the work of an artist currently on view. This time around, the festivity centers on Marvin Touré’s exhibition, the blood is the water., nights on the river.

There’s going to be visual art, there’s going to be music, there’s going to be custom cocktails, and there’s going to be food!  With a focus on plantains, emblematic of cuisine of the African diaspora, local restaurants African Eats Cuisine, el Sabor, Shado Beni, Cilantro y Ajo, and Pauline’s Caribbean Soul Cuisine will sample their best creations featuring this glorious tropical fruit.

If you’re already familiar with the Mattress Factory, you know what an invaluable part of Pittsburgh’s cultural landscape they are. If you’ve dined at any of the participating restaurants, the chance to taste whatever they bring to the table is enough to get you out for anything. Joining  them together with music for a late summer fete is the party we’ve been waiting for. Get your tickets here, and we hope to see you there!
