You are cordially invited to join Sustainable Pittsburgh and Local Government Academy (LGA) for a Sustainable Community Development Network (SCDN) Forum where community and municipal leaders, and subject matter experts will discuss how to create economic and community resilience by strengthening policies related to local food production. The forum will be held on Tuesday, May 14th at 1:00 pm at the Sharpsburg Borough Building (1611 Main Street). A Happy Hour will follow at 5:15 pm at Hitchhiker Brewing Company two blocks away (1500 S. Canal St) where delicious appetizers will be provided by the culinary training program, Community Kitchen Pittsburgh.
Please share with your elected municipal officials and community leaders!
At the Forum, you will hear about the numerous health, environmental, and economic advantages of fostering an accessible and local food system and learn how you can promote and aid the process in your municipality. We will discuss what food-friendly policies are and why they are important to your community. Grow Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Food Policy Council have worked with us to create a program that explores numerous topics, including: land use and reuse, urban agricultural and a related model ordinance, the farm to table experience, restaurant incubators and workforce development.
Click here for more information about the topics to be covered or to share with additional leaders from your community.
If you can’t join us for the Forum, please join us afterward for the Happy Hour at Hitchhiker Brewery! (and vise versa)
