The Pennsylvania Resources Council makes May chock full of opportunities to learn and practice sustainability, beginning with a Zero Waste Event in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 3rd & 4th. Stations will be set up along the route for disposing of materials like water bottles for recycling, and banana peels, water cups, and leftover food for composting.
The rest of the month brings Backyard Composting Workshops in various area locations, as well as an online webinar on Thursday, May 8th; Watershed Awareness & Rain Barrels seminars at Phipps Conservatory, Green Tree Public Library, and more; and a Hard To Recycle event in North Park. Their Traveling Glass Bin will bring recycling opportunities to Round Hill Park in Elizabeth before moving on to Lawrence County in June, and their Eco Scout program is presented in conjunction with Allegheny Cleanways at Carnegie Library of McKeesport beginning on May 7th.
