ANNUAL FARM TO TABLE CONFERENCE EXPANDS PROGRAMMING IN ITS 10TH YEAR

March 18 & 19, 2016 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center

Pittsburgh, PA, March 14, 2016 The 10th Annual Farm to Table Conference returns Friday and Saturday, March 18th and March 19th to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh. The Conference features exhibitors, speakers, a Local Food Tasting, as well as a Farm Fresh Breakfast and children’s activities. This 10th Anniversary year features expanded programming to serve a diverse and an expanding audience.

This year, programming will take place on the main stage in the Exhibit Hall and will feature cooking demos, health & wellness talks, garden demos and over 150 vendors; farms, restaurants, health care professionals and more. In addition to food-based programming, the Conference focuses on overall wellness and will feature exhibitors and programming focusing on mind, body, and spirit.

In addition to the Conference’s popular regular programming, Farm to Table Pittsburgh organizers have also added several new offerings to this year’s schedule of events. “As the Farm to Table movement grows, so does our demographic and so does the diversity of our vendors and offerings. This year, we are adding and expanding programming to showcase this growth and to add even more interesting programming into the mix. There really is something for every age and interest level this year.”, says Erin Hart, Executive Director of Farm to Table Pittsburgh.
New to the Farm to Table Conference this year:

Saturday’s Farm to Flask Mixology Event: This event celebrates and showcases local distilleries and wineries as well as talents from local mixologists. Participants include: Pennsylvania Libations, The Livermore, Boyd & Blair, Wigle Whiskey, Allegheny Distilling LLC/Maggie’s Farm Rum, Emerald Valley Artisans LLC, and Carbonara’s Ristorante.

New Vendors: This year, the conference has a 50% increase in vendors, from farms and food purveyors, to wellness experts to restaurants, caterers, and chefs.

Free registration for Seniors 65+, recipients of SNAP or WIC benefits, and teachers: Guests can register at the door or visit FarmToTablePA.com and use promotional code: 65PLUS. The 65+ registration discount is sponsored by American HealthCare Group. The Senior, teacher and SNAP/WIC benefits recipient registration includes access to all Conference events, with the exception of the Friday Night Tasting, Farm Fresh Breakfast, and the Farm to Flask Mixology reception.

Expanded Children’s Programming: Expanded children’s programming includes a “Hip Hop and Grow” session with Fresh Camp, a healthy eating seminar for kids with Snack Attack, a kid’s cooking class with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, a local food challenge with American HealthCare Group, a seedling and paper pot making class with North Hills Community Outreach, and more.
Popular returning programming will include:

  • Friday Night Local Food Tasting: This event is Friday, March 18 from. Registration to the tasting is sold separately from Conference registration.
  • Saturday Farm Fresh Breakfast: This event is 8 am – 10 am on Saturday, March 19. Registration for the breakfast is sold separately from Conference registration.
  • Burgh Bits & Bites VIP Food Tour: Popular local food tour guides from Burgh Bits & Bites provide guests the opportunity for an expanded tasting and vendor preview before “doors open” the Saturday f the Conference. On Saturday, March 19, Burgh Bits & Bites ticket buyers will meet & greet the vendors in the main hall before it’s open to the public. $40 registration includes Saturday Farm Fresh Breakfast and a private tour of Exhibit Hall before the event opens.’
  • Community Kitchen Pittsburgh (CKP) Finals: Farm to Table Pittsburgh Conference will host Community Kitchen’s Project Lunch Tray’s Jr. Chef Competition for the second year. Students from schools across the city will complete this program live and on-site as an exciting youth element this year. This junior chef competition serves as a teaching and learning opportunity. The competition’s focal point is its namesake: the Lunch Tray. This is not just a competition between teams, but a challenge to kids and their chef mentors to reinvent and innovate what a cafeteria lunch is like. The finals will take place on Saturday from 11am-2pm, and CKP will be exhibiting at the Conference both days
