- Chaganra Farm – Pastured and Sustainable Meats
We are Chaganra Farm in Latrobe, PA. Our family raises 100% grass fed beef, pastured pork and poultry, and pride ourselves in our sustainability practices. We sell beef and pork down to approximately 20LB portions (1/16th and 1/8th respectively) and use a local butcher in New Alexandria PA. Chickens and turkeys are sold by the whole bird. We also have a meat CSA that customers get monthly shares of pastured meats. Pricing and availability varies based on the market and product. We value pre-order customers and give you the first priority for your commitment! We do not have a farm-store or sell by the cut at this time.
To be truly sustainable, we feed our pigs and chickens a combination of Non-GMO feed sourced out of PA and Ohio, brewers grains from a local brewery, and surplus produce and baked good from a food bank. All pre-consumer goods that could not be sold. We are contributing to reducing the amount of food destined for a landfill by picking up weekly and feeding or composting it on our farm. Between the two sources, we reduce approximately TWO TONS per week. Although we follow most organic practices and a lot of these goods are organic, we do not intend to become certified organic in order to allow this program to continue.
We do not currently have produce for sale, although from time to time we will have veggies or fruit available. This is in the works and hope to have produce available soon.
