Western PA's Local Food Guide
Flip through Local Food Guide
We source fresh, local produce from farms across our 11-county region through the following programs:
Direct Farm Pick-ups- We pick up and accept deliveries of anything from a few boxes to a full truckload of produce directly from local farms.
Cost Recovery Donations-We can cover the expenses of harvesting & packaging first and second quality produce that can be distributed through our member agencies & pantries and our Produce to People program. We can use PA Agricultural Surplus System (PASS) funds for cost recovery to farmers, packers, and processors located anywhere Pennsylvania.
Gleaning- Well-trained, eager volunteers join Food Bank staff in harvesting fresh produce from farmers' fields. Gleans last 3 hours and happen June-December, weather-permitting.
Farmers Market Connection Program- We facilitate connections between farmers markets and our member agencies for weekly pick-ups of excess produce to be distributed through the agency or pantry. Some markets run a Harvest for the Hungry program by which patrons can purchase extra produce from farmers to donate to the participating agency.
