Farm to Table Western PA moves to the Block Northway for 7th Annual Harvest Tasting (& more exciting news for 2019!)

October 19, 2018 (Pittsburgh, PA)— Farm to Table Western PA, creators of the popular annual Farm to Table Local Food Conference, are hosting the seventh annual Farm to Table Harvest Tasting on November 3 from 2pm-5pm at The Block Northway in the North Hills of Allegheny County. The family-friendly, all ages event will feature tastings and samples from over fifty local and regional vendors and live local music. Pre-sale tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children 2-12. The Harvest Tasting is presented by American HealthCare Group and the newly founded Farm to Table Buy Local.
Farm to Table Harvest Tasting guests are encouraged to savor the local flavors of Fall and gather local inspiration for their Thanksgiving tables, as a kick-off to the Holiday season. Tastings of the best in local food and beverage is the main attraction. Guests can also purchase local items and enjoy music while they taste their way through the event. This year’s Harvest Tasting will feature over fifty local vendors including; breweries, wineries, local farms & grocers, organic skincare, some of Pittsburgh’s best restaurants and more.
“The Farm to Table Harvest Tasting caps off the Harvest Festival season held at local farms. We want to give farms and consumers one more chance to connect during the Fall months. We challenge consumers to Buy Local throughout the year. According to a 2015 study from the Southwest PA Regional Planning Commission, ‘If economic activity in the Western PA food supply chain increased by 10%, we could create 33,000 new jobs & add $4 billion in business activity.’” says Erin Hart, founder, Farm to Table Buy Local.
Farm to Table Buy Local is a Western PA based non-profit, 501c3, founded in May, 2018. The organization is the “Buy Fresh Buy Local” chapter of Western PA and promotes “buying local” to consumers and food/beverage producers. Additionally, we are starting Cooking Clubs for residents in affordable housing.
Farm to Table Western PA is part of the wellness program offered by American HealthCare Group, a Pittsburgh-based health and wellness company. The Farm to Table wellness program includes Lunch & Learns, cooking demonstrations, local tastings, on-site farmers markets, fruit bowls and student assemblies offered to school districts, corporations, senior groups and affordable housing communities.
Farm to Table Western PA hosts several small tasting events throughout the year in Western Pennsylvania, culminating in the large scale Farm to Table Local Food Conference every Spring. In 2019, the Farm to Table Local Food Conference will become part of the Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show. The dates are March 1 – March 10, 2019 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
