Other PA Farm Show contest entry deadlines approaching
Harrisburg, PA – Recognizing Pennsylvania’s national leadership in direct farm sales, Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding today invited businesses that market their agriculture products directly to consumers to enter a new competition at the 2023 PA Farm Show. Businesses can enter their websites, marketing brochures, and social media in the new PA Farm Show Agriculture Marketing Contest to earn cash, recognition at the Pennsylvania State Fair™, and the right to call themselves state champions.
“This year’s PA Farm Show theme, Rooted in Progress, invites you to meet the national leaders and innovators in Pennsylvania agriculture today and explore our $132.5 billion industry, our heritage, and roots of our success,” said Secretary Redding. “Direct farm sales are one of many areas where Pennsylvania ag producers shine. This is your chance to show what makes your business part of Pennsylvania’s success.”
Entry deadline for the new contest is December 1, 2022. Details and complete competition rules are on the Farm Show website under Department 36 – Agriculture Marketing.
The PA Farm Show is the nation’s largest indoor agricultural event and Pennsylvania State Fair, held annually each January in Harrisburg. Hundreds of individual competitions during the eight-day show feature competition winners who qualify by winning an event at one of Pennsylvania’s 108 local and county fairs to compete for the state title.
Numerous other contests, including the beer, cider, cheese and wine contests are stand-alone, and entrants do not have to qualify at a fair during 2022. There are competitions for all ages and interests, from traditional and not-so-traditional crafts and culinary delights, to engineering marvels and dream landscape designs.
Competitors in some contests, like Christmas trees and wreaths, qualify by virtue of their PA Farm Show win to compete at the national level, like National Champion Evergreen Acres Tree Farm, who will have a tree displayed in the White House for the 2022 holiday season.
Other competitors, like landscaping entries qualify for regional competitions, and some, including draft horse hitch teams, earn points toward qualification for national competitions.
Redding also reminded new and first-time competitors of approaching deadlines for other 2023 PA Farm Show contests, including, but not limited to:
